How To Immediately Reduce Your Hottub Costs

The pros and cons of keeping the hot tub at operating temperature.

You’ve heard it. Every hot tub owner has their own opinion. Should you leave the hot tub up to temperature or reheat every time you need it.
The argument can become quite heated. We’ve seen hydro bills be as much as 100 or 200 dollars more with a hot tub.
If your hot tub is properly insulated and it isn’t the coldest winter on record then the theory is that it shouldn’t take too much power to keep the water at operating temperature. Heating the water every time you use it can become wasteful.
On the other hand, if it’s an older model, it may not be insulated well enough. If the cap is cracked or doesn’t seal completely then that puff of steam you see periodically is your money going up in smoke.
What most people don’t take into effect is the number of times you use your hot tub. Every time the lid is off then heat is escaping. Conversely if you only use your hot tub on the weekend and then only for a short period then you aren’t using that much energy. The problem is when you use the hot tub every day, staying in for an hour or more each time.
If you’re looking to buy a hot tub, remember to calculate how much you expect to use it. You may be surprised.
