Have you done an energy audit?
As we get closer to the winter and we exchange the air conditioner for the space heater, it’s a great time to audit your energy usage. Not only can you find some big wins, but even your small wins can add up.
You can of course opt for a full home energy audit, but if you don’t want to go that route, follow these steps to explore what options you can affect to reduce your hydro bill.
1. Lights – There are cost effective LED options that not only save you money, but look good. You aren’t stuck with ineffective or old technology that wouldn’t last a quarter of the guarantee.
2. Appliances – Old appliances use a lot of power. By using more efficient equipment, you can save money and they look good.
3. Excess power consumption – A professional electrician can test the power outlets in your home to determine if there is excess consumption. There can be significant drain or loss through many pieces of equipment or appliances.
By exploring these elements with an audit, you can save significant costs for your home or business. If you aren’t sure if it’s worth it, then ask a neighbour with a similar sized house. Compare the size of your hydro bill. You may be surprised.
