Did you know the average home causes more pollution than a car?
Unfortunately, while we slowly become more efficient with our homes, we also find more things to use our energy on. Our houses are becoming more connected, our vehicles use electricity instead of petrol.
Shutting off the lights or changing them over to LED’s isn’t enough to significantly affect our usage however. We need to achieve better efficiencies if we’re going to reduce our energy consumption.
Some alternative ways to reduce our energy consumption include:

Change to energy efficient appliances

It doesn’t matter whether it’s your dishwasher, stove or refrigerator, the Energy Star rating is designed to reduce your footprint.

Turn electronics off of standby

Many electronics expend energy waiting for the remote to turn them on. One option you have is to have them all on a physical power bar. Once you turn the bar on then you can control them with your remote.

Change you laundry habits

The washing machine uses a lot of energy. You can reduce your usage, fill your loads,  switch to cold water, and hang your clothing to dry.
The easiest way to reduce your hydro bill is to reduce your usage. You don’t have to go without however, just use your power smarter.
