It may not feel like it yet, but spring is quickly approaching. Now may be the best time to think about putting up that fan you’ve been speaking about for the last few years.
There are some things you should be aware of however before you just pop off the old dome lamp and throw up the second hand fan from your grandmother’s apartment.
- A fan needs more reinforcement. Check the ceiling to make sure that it will hold the weight of the fan you’ve chosen.
- Make sure you know the height of you ceiling. Low ceilings require different fans to make sure they cool properly.
- Position. The existing light fixtures may be too close to other lights or the walls. Make sure you have proper air movement around where the fan blades will be turning. It may require rewiring if the electrical box isn’t in a good position.
You may not be ready to put your fan in now, but make sure you explore these elements before you purchase the fan to make sure you have the right one.
